EU support VAT rate reduction

VAT: Commission proposes categories of services to which Member States may apply a reduced rate
 
The European Commission today made a proposal to change the VAT Directive 2006/112/EC so as to provide Member States with the flexibility to apply reduced VAT rates for some specific services on a permanent basis.

EC proposals to cut VAT rate for services - Ireland Should Apply!

According the KPMG UK website (see link below) the EU may facilitate VAT reductions as far down as 5% to address ‘labour intensive’ businesses such as hotels, restuarants etc Come on Ireland lets get to it.
